¹⁹ Within three days^(A) Pharaoh will lift off your head^(B) and impale your body on a pole.^(C) And the birds will eat away your flesh.”^(D)

²⁰ Now the third day^(E) was Pharaoh’s birthday,^(F) and he gave a feast for all his officials.^(G) He lifted up the heads of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker^(H) in the presence of his officials: ²¹ He restored the chief cupbearer^(I) to his position,^(J) so that he once again put the cup into Pharaoh’s hand^(K)— ²² but he impaled the chief baker,^(L) just as Joseph had said to them in his interpretation.^(M)

²⁹ He impaled the body of the king of Ai on a pole and left it there until evening. At sunset,^(A) Joshua ordered them to take the body from the pole and throw it down at the entrance of the city gate. And they raised a large pile of rocks^(B) over it, which remains to this day.

¹⁰ So they impaled^(A) Haman^(B) on the pole^(C) he had set up for Mordecai.^(D) Then the king’s fury subsided.^(E)
